Over the years, while working with vulnerable and often misunderstood children, I soon came to realise that the parents’ guardians and significant others in the children’s lives could also benefit from ‘support’ if true progress was to be made. Whilst initiating my first Parental Support Workshop (PSW) in 2010, the evidence was tangibly obvious and the benefits for all became beneficial and productive for all to see and experience.
The overall aim in providing online PSW’s is to offer the opportunity of practical emotional support to countless parents from all socio-economic and cultural backgrounds who might not have even contemplated reaching out for help. Accessibility affordability and personal development are all key features of the program.
Our online PSW’s provide practical and emotional support for parents whilst facilitating a safe and confidential space to share lived experiences, simultaneously encouraging and supporting others.
Clinically, we know that all children are unique and individuals in their own right. The parents are no different. As a consequence, recognising dealing with and managing issues that arise can be complex when facilitating groups of individual people.
Therefore, offering parents with children of specific ages, often presenting with particular issues has proven to be both useful and practical.
